Four of these episodes, 312 through 315 (The Western Air Temple, The Firebending Masters, and The Boiling Rock Parts 1 and 2) have not yet been broadcast in the United States. We will post DVD screens from these episodes shortly, but please remember to keep all discussion of these episodes on the ASN forums in either the spoiler forum or the appropriate episode discussion strings. Thanks!
Also, we never really were able to get an update just focused on the awesome New York Comic Con panel hosted by Dave Roman and friends at Nick Magazine. It was a blast and was attended by many of the fans who decided to make it a double header with the creators panel the following day.
A huge amount of original fan art and fan videos were shown at the panel, including the megahit "Avatar: The Last Puppetbender" video short made by Kevin Coppa. Click on the link above or logo at right to see it first hand on youtube!
Alison Wilgus, one of Dave's colleagues at Nick Mag who hosted the panel, has put together a detailed list of links to all the awesome fan art and fan videos that were showcased at the panel. If you haven't already, please head on over to her LJ entry and check out just how talented the Avatar fandom really is!
New Episodes Start In July & Nick Releases NYCC Trailer
Posted by Acastus on April 22, 2008 @ 11:28 pm EST (link)
New episodes of Avatar are to begin broadcasting once again in the United States on July 14th! A banner now appears at the bottom of the world map on the Avatar site on Nick.com which reads, "All new episodes of Avatar return Monday, July 14!" Check out the Avatar Nick site to see for yourself!
EDIT: The banner has been removed from Nick.com, but we were told directly by Nick earlier that new episodes would resume in July.
Also, Nickelodeon has released to ASN a higher quality copy of the NYCC Avatar season 3 finale trailer. It came to us already compressed, so the quality isn't quite as good as the one we got last summer after SDCC. 204 screenshots have been posted in the screenshot section to replace the low quality ones taken from the video.
Here's the trailer itself:
Also, here's a megaupload link for everyone who'd like to download their very own copy! All other fansites are welcome to grab this and display / offer it for download as well - this trailer belongs to the whole fan community. I left it in the format in which it was sent to me (a quicktime .mov file), but perhaps other folks will convert it other formats so no one gets left out who wants a copy. Anyway, hope everyone enjoys!
Toon Zone Interview With Mike & Bryan
Posted by Acastus on April 22, 2008 @ 10:52 am EST (link)
The awesome animation site Toon Zone has published a fantastic interview with Avatar creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The interview was conducted after the NYCC Avatar panel last Saturday.
In the article Mike and Bryan reveal that they really enjoy the fan focus on romance and shipping. Mike comments:
"We knew there would be some tension, but it wasn't like we were going to play that up too much, so it's cool to see people getting into that romance stuff."
Further, the creators said that they have a new idea for a new Avatar story about a different incarnation of the Avatar other than Aang. It's unclear whether they meant a new series, a tv movie or something else entirely. However, Bryan went on to comment:
"But, we don't know. We'll see if we can get to make it. There are things that we control and things we don't. That's all I can say."
Click on the ToonZone logo or the link above to read the full interview! Be warned though, the article contains some spoilers, so don't read if you don't want to be spoiled!

Avatar To End In July With Broadcast of Series Finale
Posted by Acastus on April 19, 2008 @ 10:11 pm EST (link)
The NYCC panel with Mike and Bryan was full of great clips and lots of news. One of the most important things to come out of the hour long panel was the news that the show will end in July with the broadcast of the four part show finale.
We did tape the whole panel, but have only just uploaded the trailer. Sorry for the delay, the convention center wireless connection was so slow our computer ran out of batteries before we could upload it! Of course, the trailer is loaded with spoilers (as will the other clips we will upload tonight or tomorrow), so don't watch if you don't want spoilers! For those who do watch it, sorry in advance for the camera flashes, the audience was very enthusiastic so they were pretty much unavoidable.
There were also tons of other folks who were taping the panel and many versions of the trailer are already all over the internet. Many of these are linked in our NYCC discussion strings in the forum, so head over and check them out too!
Other clips included a scene from 312, The Western Air Temple, a clip from Zuko rehearsing a speech to the Avatar, and a hilarious segment from 317, "The Ember Island Players". We will try and get those up tomorrow for everyone, as well screenshots!

Both events will also be available to everyone who can't be there in a live podcast brought to you by Avatar Portal and Dongbu Feng! For those who can't even catch the podcast, there will surely be plenty of panel videos and con reports posted online as well soon after each panel is over, so don't worry!
Release Date & Title For First Avatar Movie Confirmed
Posted by Acastus on April 16, 2008 @ 8:23 am EST (link)
Variety.com has published a short article on the upcoming live action Avatar movies. Specifically, the release date and the film title has been released. Apparently Nick is hoping to create a summer blockbuster, as Variety is reporting here that the first film is due for theatrical release on July 2nd, 2010.
The title of this first film will be "The Last Airbender." The word "Avatar" was dropped from the title as a way to escape the conflict with director James Cameron's film, also called "Avatar", due for release around the same time.
Shyamalan Interview On EmpireOnline.com
Posted by Acastus on April 15, 2008 @ 7:13 pm EST (link)
Olly Richards at Empireonline.com has published a short interview with director M. Night Shyamalan about the upcoming live action Avatar movies. The article offers some interesting glimpses of how Shyamalan views the project, including this comment on the contribution of special effects:
"It can’t be special effects for the sake of special effects, it has to be [that you use] take seven because the girl breathes properly on take seven. I have to tell the animators that. Everything, has to have that detail. I can’t leave it. I have to make sure that I make it the same kind of storytelling, but with just one more tool."
The article also talks about what attracted Shyamalan to the project and some of the locations where they will be filming. Click on the link above to read the full article.

NYCC Update From Dave Roman
Posted by Acastus on April 12, 2008 @ 9:56 am EST (link)
Dave Roman of Nickelodeon Magazine and the host of the Friday night fan panel has posted a great run down of Avatar events for NYCC next week. He writes:
"It will be a once in a lifetime chance to celebrate your love of all things Avatar, reflect on the series with fellow fans OFF THE INTERNET—one last time before the final episodes begin airing! Show the world (including attending Nick folks) just how passionate and diverse the fandom is! Convince con-goers at NYCC they missing out if they aren’t already a fan of Avatar: the Last Airbender (not to be confused with the Avatar comics publishing company!)
Tell your friends and family! Ready your cosplay, make signs, flyers, and creative t-shirts! Draw some fan art and help spread the excitement! The series finale is coming soon…let’s all help Avatar go out with a bang!"
In addition to the panels, there will be a Haiku Slam & Cosplay photo shoot run by ASN's Avatar_Mom right after the Friday night panel. Some of the cosplay photos might end up on the Nickmag.com website, so remember to dress your best!
There's a huge amount of detail and other items not mentioned here, so make sure to visit Dave's DA page by clicking on the link above or the cool graphic Dave drew at right!
Soundtrack.net Interview With The Track Team
Posted by Acastus on April 8, 2008 @ 12:30 pm EST (link)
Soundtrack.net has posted an extensive, spoiler free interview with The Track Team. The duo, made up of Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn makes all the excellent music for Avatar.
The wide ranging interview covers everything from how they make the music for Avatar, some of their favorite and sounds, and generally updates and covers a lot more than the ASN interview we did with them over a year ago. Click on the "Soundtrack" logo at right to read the entire interview!
The interview has a lot of great details, but alas there was no news was provided on whether a soundtrack might be in the offing. The Track Team does encourage everyone who does want one, however, to write Nickelodeon to voice your support!
THQ Announces Third Avatar Video Game
Posted by Acastus on April 3, 2008 @ 9:38 pm EST (link)
This fall, the third Avatar: the Last Airbender video game titled "Avatar: Into the Inferno" will be released by video game producer THQ according to this article on IGN.com! A little warning though, the game trailer is a little spoilery, so don't watch it if you mind spoilers.
The article states, "The next iteration is called Avatar: The Last Airbender -- Into the Inferno and specifically follows the adventures of Aang and his friends during the third season of the Nickelodeon show....The title is once again being developed by THQ Australia and will ship for Wii, PlayStation 2 and DS this October."
The first two games were great, so hopefully the third will follow in their footsteps. Thanks to mrshock13 for emailing this in!
